Kusatsu Yubatake Manten

I visited this restaurant one evening while in the area and was impressed by the variety of food at reasonable prices. The dishes tasted great, and even though the place was busy, we received our food in a timely manner. If you're looking for a diverse selection of meals, this is the place for you. I highly recommend it!

Very good restaurant, but really popular and busy. Need to take a number and expect some waiting time, but staff is friendly and helpful and the food is very tasty.

Nice and central restaurant next to the hot spring fields. We made an online reservation in advance and lucky we did as the line was already getting pretty long even before their opening time. The food was good but nothing outstanding. We tried their original chicken skewers, yaki manju, Udon and Rice Pot. The rice was in my eyes a better choice than the Udon but we should not have ordered the yaki manju, that was a bit too sweet and too bready. The atmosphere was lovely! If you fill in an online survey in the restaurant you also get a pair of chopsticks as a present to take home :)

Their speciality is kamameshi, which they serve with Dashi broth and picked vegetables. Long wait for a table but once inside the service was quick and impeccable, food was delicious and portion sizes are big! We got the salmon and ikura, and the chicken with maitake mushroom kamameshi dishes, as well as the chicken skewers. Definitely worth the wait, would definitely go back!

We were able to grab a table for early dinner at this very popular restaurant. Nice view overlooking Yubatake. Place was full even at 5:00pm, so advance reservations are required.

The restaurant is at the second floor. Best Google Maps review in this place, so unsurprisingly very good business. Always need to queue during peak hours. My first time trying kamameshi. Generally it is good, yet to me the taste is just okay. It doesn’t mean that the taste is not good. I’m just not that into this kind of rice dish. Prices are reasonable.

Very good pot rice, mushroom tempura and fried chicken skewers. A word about the queue system for dinner. At 5pm, restaurant will admit customers with dinner reservations. Upon seating all diners who reserved, shop will give out numbered tickets for all other customers without reservation. You can check your numbered ticket status by scanning the QR code on it. We waited for an hour for our dinner.
